Dress for Success Financial Literacy Program

The Financial Literacy Program is an important resource for the women of Dress for Success. This 15-week seminar series educates participants on topics that address a range of levels of financial sophistication including budgeting, basic banking, tackling debt issues, taxes, investing, and retirement.

By the conclusion of the pilot program in New York, 100% of participants had a monthly budget, a savings account, a checking account, an emergency action plan if they were to lose their job, and had significantly reduced their debt. Six months afterward they continued to make progress; 100% were able to stop receiving public assistance, rent their own living space, and increased their savings.

The Allstate Foundation’s sponsorship of My Dollar, My Life will also support the Financial Literacy Program of Dress for Success in seven cities across the country. Meet some of the women participating in this year’s program and read their My Dollar, My Life promises on the Dress for Success website.
