Nobel Laureate Professor Yunus
Professor Yunus is known worldwide for his successful application of the concept of microcredit, the extension of small loans to entrepreneurs too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. He founded the first Grameen Bank in 1976; in 2006 they were honored with the Nobel Peace Prize. He is the author of 3 best selling books. In August 2009, he was given the Presidential Medal of Honor by Barack Obama. Yunus has created business and programs that have lifted millions of women, men and their families out of poverty around the world.
