Elizabeth has received four loans from Grameen America totaling $12,800 (1st loan $3000, 2nd $1800, 3rd $4000, 4th $4000). She works as a beautician in Corona, Queens where she pays $500 to rent one chair. Elizabeth uses her loans to purchases hair products along with cosmetic products to her clients.
About one year ago, Elizabeth had some family problems that did not allow her to concentrate on growing her business. Since then, however, she has been able to maintain a household and healthy living standards for her family. She has now has invested $5000 as running capital where the return of that investment provides $400 week. During her time as a Grameen member, Elizabeth has accrued a healthy savings amount of $3500 at Citibank and hopes to continue to build that amount as a future investment for her own salon.
